How to sell your home in winter

Yesterday, we wrote a piece about how if you’re trying to sell your home this winter, not to give up – and it’s true! There’s still plenty of opportunities to find that bargain even in the colder months, particularly nowadays when the housing market is on the upswing. But that’s also easier said than done.

So let’s help you get started! MSN Real Estate has put together a laundry list of tips and suggestions on how to sell your home in the winter, and here are just a few that can get you off on the right foot:

  • Clean off the snow and ice: If a buyer can’t physically get into your home, then you have no chance of selling it to them. So before you show off your property, make sure you shovel any snow in your driveway or other walkways and chip away at any ice on the ground.
  • Keep your house warm: Getting your indoor temperature to a high and comfortable level may not seem like a big deal, but you want your potential buyer to feel at home, right? Turn up the thermostat so that your visitors aren’t freezing. If you have a fireplace, this would be the perfect opportunity to show it off.
  • Use natural light to your advantage: It gets dark earlier in the winter, so try to schedule your appointments in the daylight hours. Open your shades and curtains to let in as much natural light as possible.
