If you’ve been trying to sell your home lately but haven’t had any bites yet, don’t worry – you’re not alone. Despite all the buzz going on about the seller’s market and how now is a good time to sell, there are actually plenty of homeowners who have been trying to flip their properties and keep striking out. There are plenty of reasons why you might be having trouble, some of which we’ve talked about in the last couple weeks. But those aren’t the only ones.
For both the first time sellers and the newbies, here are just a few more things to keep in mind about what might be keeping those potential sales away:
- Double-check your price tag: Scope out some of the other properties for sale in your neighborhood. How do they compare to yours? Prices might have fallen since you first put up your listing, and if your home is asking for something much higher than your neighbors, then your chances for netting that sale are going to suffer for it.
- Hold open houses on weeknights: An open house is absolutely crucial to getting people interested in buying – it’s a lot easier to make that decision if you’ve actually seen the place yourself, after all. And holding these events on weeknights means fewer competition to deal with compared to weekend appointments.
- Relist: You know the saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Well it applies here too – if your home isn’t budging, try relisting it to boost new interest.
