Did you know every 2 seconds someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion?
Cathy donating blood at the American Red Cross
Our team is committed to giving back to the community, and we want to influence you to do the same. For the past 10 years, Cathy Sneyd has regularly donated blood with the American Red Cross. Blood is a liquid that cannot be synthetically manufactured, so the only way to receive blood is from donors. Cathy said one of the main reasons she gives blood regularly is because her blood type is B- , which is a rare blood type. She is passionate about giving blood because she once needed a blood transfusion to receive an operation.
Just to put it in perspective for you, 5 million patients a year receive blood donations. One car accident victim may need as much as 100 pints of blood (10x the amount of pints in an adult human body!).

Most individuals who have not donated blood state the reasons as; they never thought about it, or they are afraid of needles. We want you to become a regular blood donor, and now that you’ve read this, you’ve thought about it! If you are a first time donor it is a safe 4 step process; registration, medical history and mini-physical, donation, and treats after! This process only takes 10-15 minutes, so it can be done quickly on your lunch break.
Donors can give either whole blood or specific blood components (red cells, plasma or platelets). Donating 1 pint of blood can save 3 lives! If you don’t donate blood because you are afraid of needles, give back in another way by volunteering at the American Red Cross.
