Summer is winding down, which must be a bummer for those coastal states. But in Utah, the fall is prime hiking season. What better time of year to hit the trails and scope out the endless waves of auburn and golden-leaved trees, watching whole expanses of nature change color right before your eyes? It’s an amazing sight, no doubt about it. The downside, չնայած, is that a lot of these paths aren’t necessarily kid-friendly. If you want to truck it on your own or with some friends, then you’ve got plenty of opportunities to take advantage of. But for families, hiking around here may seem daunting.
Not to fear, as our local news outlet KSL has spotlighted some of the best family-oriented spots to go hiking this fall:
- Big Springs Trail: This 1.5-mile path is an autumn essential, with its winding trails through trees and meadows making it a can’t-miss sight for the season.
- Donut Falls: Sitting in Big Cottonwood Canyon is this half-mile trail that offers a great view of the falls nearby. Recommended for kids four and up.
- Silver Lake Trail: Big Cottonwood gets another shout-out with this 0.75-mile round-trip trail, an ideal distance for parents with young kids. Half of the trek is covered in boardwalk, making it an easy walk for those with strollers. Just beware that the bugs like to come out at night, so depending on the time of your hike, you may want to pack some spray!
