As anyone living in Salt Lake City – or really any big city – can tell you, food trucks are big right now. These guys offer up the coolest, most unique concoctions of food that not only taste really good but are actually healthy for you. Next time you choose to eat out at work, skip McDonald’s or Subway and find a food truck instead.
Natuurlik, finding them may be easier said than done – they are on wheels, na alles, and not always in the same spot every day. And one Salt Lake City food truck in particular likes to change things up by offering secret, off-the-menu items to its Twitter followers!
Off The Grid SLC is one of the hottest food trucks in town now, and it’s easy to see why if you just take a look at their menu: Waffle sandwiches with chicken and cheese and Mediterranean wraps bursting with veggies… just typing that is making me hungry. But if you follow these guys on Twitter, you have a chance at getting to stray from the beaten path and sample their “Underground Special.”
The truck’s first go at Underground Specials was its now-famous Ramen Waffle Sandwich, a mix of roasted chicken, ramen noddles, fried egg, mango and avocado smashed between two waffles. Now every Wednesday, Off The Grid SLC promotes its Underground Specials by tweeting to its followers, offering a free sandwich to the first five people to respond. The catch? In order to eat it, you have to post a photo of it to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. But as far as catches for free food go, this one is pretty tame.
