Outdoor music festivals are upon us, with California’s Coachella in full swing right now, as festivalgoers look forward to the approaching second and final weekend. But forget crossing the border to enjoy incredible live music in the great outdoors.
The annual Red Butte Concert Series promises an eclectic line-up, with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Jethro Tull, The Head and the Heart, The Decemberists and ZZ Top – testament to the series’ musical diversity, with 29 concerts scheduled from early May 23 to September 14.
The intimate amphitheater sits alongside university gardens, sheltered by mountains, with stunning sunset views, vantage points and surreal acoustics. Solo artist, Grace Potter noting how the surrounding mountains imparted a “magical” element or treatment to her music as she performed during last year’s series. (We’ve included stunning images from Grace’s energetic performance to whet your musical appetite, as well as all concert details below).
The Red Butte amphitheater is relatively small in size, so you’re guaranteed a personal experience, even if you happen to arrive close to concert time and find yourself toward the rear. (There aren’t any ‘nose bleed’ seats at Red Butte!) YOU bring your own seat/cushion/blanket, unless opting for the VIP/garden experience.
Tickets to this year’s Red Butte Concert Series go on sale to the public on May 1, with some performances selling out due to garden members accessing tickets the week prior on April 24 and 25. (Hint: follow the likes of us clever Muvers and secure Red Butte garden membership to avoid missing out!)
Where else can you see and listen to amazing acts at such affordable prices in a truly sublime mountainside setting? Remember to pack your outdoor essentials (hat, sunscreen and an all-weather coat), as temperatures plummet once the sun retreats and acts play – rain, hail or shine. Tip: pay particular attention to gate and concert times as each performance varies.
As always, reach out to us at the Muve Group if you’d like to learn more about life in Salt Lake City and its many attractions. Call us on 801.474.2274.
