Luxury homes are hot properties in Utah

Are you on the lookout for a new home? The Salt Lake City real estate market has been on fire lately, with more homes for sale being put up and higher rates of job growth driving more and more people to our city. There’s a wide range of houses available here, but the ones that have been really turning heads are our luxury properties.

Take 22 Haxton Place, for example. The Salt Lake Tribune recently did a profile on this address: A 90-year-old, 3,958-square-foot English manor, built from red brick and containing no less than four bedrooms and four bathrooms. This residence also has tons of that extra flair you’d expect from upscale properties, like a master suite, a classic-style staircase and a garden complete with French doors.

Sound too good to be true? This opportunity, believe it or not, is becoming the new norm here in SLC. Luxury homes are moving off the shelves left and right. Special features like home security systems and private pools, which used to be just optional add-ons not too long ago, are now the standard.

Salt Lake City real estate companies – like yours truly – are reporting surging numbers for this market, with 2013 in particular seeing a 49 percent jump in home sales for properties worth at least $1 million. While that might sound a bit steep to some buyers, it’s important to remember that luxury homes aren’t just really big houses. These places are full of history and tradition. They give owners a serious blast from the past without skimping on all the high-end modern conveniences they want or expect.
